HOW TO APPLY HR INFLUENCE AT A STRATEGIC LEVEL USING ACTION-CENTRED LEADERSHIP™ 

It is often the case that HR doesn’t carry sufficient weight at strategic levels.  ‘Our people are our most important asset’, can sound hollow if HR strategies take second place to others. HR practitioners need to be business people first, HR professionals second, but many are not able to perform the role of HR as true business partner. 

Using the Action Centred Leadership framework, our guest speaker will explore the role of the strategic HR professional, the range of leadership skills needed to separate the transactional, operational role of HR from that of strategic influence, and how to bring that influence to bear at the top level in business.

About Our Guest Speaker

Steve Read, FCIPD, has over 13 years’ experience as a leadership and management development  consultant, coach and trainer, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), Europe’s premier HR and development professional body. Steve began his career in the hospitality industry before working in consultancy and management roles for several UK training companies, including management of two flagship CIPD programmes.

 In 2000 Steve founded The Helix Consultancy and subsequently in 2009 established Adair International in partnership with Professor John Adair, one of the world’s leading authorities on leadership. Both Helix and Adair International work to ensure performance is optimised by helping HR professionals improve their people and leadership development strategies.

Steve has worked with a wide range of clients including Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, AVEVA Solutions HSBC, Swire Group, Galapagos Group (BioTech), Amlin Insurance, The Red Cross and Oxfam.
